Welcome to my blog. I’m learning as I go, but I’m trying to maintain a theme that is broadly encompassed by the title of the blog (“Thoughts on Aesthetics”). The theme I’ve seen organically show itself, however, is more specific: recreation. I’m a firm believer in the idea of unoriginality being original, creative, and inventive. While my sarcastic tone may not always explicitly convey this belief, the evidence is there. I typically give in my posts good and/or bad examples of original unoriginality; it might be better to describe the bad examples as failed (or corporate) attempts.

To tell you a little bit more about myself, I’ll begin with the current situation. I’m a senior at Clemson University majoring in English (with an emphasis in writing and publication studies) and Religious Studies (with a concentration in Christianity). If you feel like you know nothing more about me, I concur. It’s silly to try and define myself through my major, which could represent anything. But, I chose my majors based on my academic success in my first two years of college (yes, I’m one of those people who changed their major too many times). I appreciate what I’ve learned in these disciplines and pride myself on the ability to think, interpret and write critically, which is – after all- one of the major goals of a humanities major.

I have no idea what I want to do after I graduate, but I’m trying to cover all of my bases: I’m interning with a news station, applying to law school, and attempting to work for a regionally acclaimed magazine in the upcoming summer. Of one thing I am certain, I am going to move to New York before I turn 25. I know this is where I want to be and I’m trying to make smart decisions to get there.

Well, there it is! Some extra info about the blog, the inspirations behind it (i.e. issues in my life), and a little ranting. What else are blogs for? If you like what you read, I encourage you to follow me on Twitter (@kaylacmoser) and contact me via Facebook (I’m the Kayla C. Moser at Clemson University) for any professional opportunities!
